June 19 - What Valeria Doctors Asked About Oral Probiotics: Lessons from BioGaia Academy

Posted by BioGaiaPhilippines on

Oral probiotics are no longer just a product conversation. For many dental clinics, the more important question is: how can probiotics be explained clearly, introduced responsibly, and made easy for patients to continue?

On Friday, June 19, 2026, BioGaia Philippines hosted BioGaia Academy for the dentists and clinic team of Valeria Doctors at Discovery Suites Manila. Held over dinner, the evening created a warm and focused setting for scientific learning, clinical discussion, and practical exchange.

We were honored to welcome Dr. Patricia Suiza, owner and dentist of Valeria Doctors, together with the dentists and clinic staff who continue to show deep interest in BioGaia and oral health probiotics. We sincerely thank the Valeria Doctors team for their continued trust, support, and thoughtful participation.

What happened at BioGaia Academy

The session was led by Dr. Jane E. Acosta, BioGaia Philippines’ official speaker. Her presentation focused on the importance of maintaining a healthy oral microbiome, the role of probiotics in oral care, and how BioGaia® Prodentis® may be introduced in a practical and responsible way within dental clinic settings.

The seminar was intentionally designed to go beyond product information. It connected scientific concepts with the realities of daily practice: patient questions, clinic workflows, staff communication, and the challenge of helping patients stay consistent.

Key points discussed included:

  • why the oral microbiome matters in long-term oral health
  • how probiotics differ from conventional oral care approaches
  • the relevance of Limosilactobacillus reuteri
  • how to explain Prodentis to patients in simple, responsible language
  • practical considerations for patient adherence
  • real-world feedback from clinical use

The central message was clear: oral care is more than brushing and flossing. Supporting a balanced oral environment requires education, consistency, and evidence-based tools that patients can understand and continue.

What clinicians learned

One of the most valuable parts of the evening was the Q&A session. The dentists and clinic members of Valeria Doctors asked many thoughtful questions, covering both scientific and practical topics.

The discussion included:

  • how to position oral probiotics within a clinic’s preventive care approach
  • which patient profiles may be most relevant for discussion
  • how to explain oral probiotics without overpromising
  • how Prodentis may fit into daily routines
  • how to support patient understanding and adherence

These questions turned the seminar into a practical conversation. Rather than asking only “What is this product?”, the discussion moved toward a more clinically useful question: How can this be introduced well in real patient care?

For BioGaia Philippines, this kind of dialogue is essential. It helps us understand what dental professionals need when bringing probiotics into clinical settings—not only evidence, but also clear language, patient-friendly explanations, and simple implementation guidance.

Why this matters for dental practice

Dental professionals are often the first to help patients understand that oral health is not isolated from the rest of the body. The mouth is a living microbial environment, and the goal of modern oral care is not simply to eliminate bacteria, but to support a healthier balance.

This is where patient education becomes critical. A product can only be useful if patients understand why they are using it, how to use it, and how to make it part of a sustainable routine.

In that sense, oral probiotics are not only a science topic. They are also a communication topic. For clinics, the challenge is to translate microbiome science into simple chairside language that patients can remember and follow.

A practical patient explanation may sound like this:

“Brushing and flossing are still essential. Prodentis is not a replacement. It is an additional oral care option that may help support a balanced oral environment as part of your daily routine.”

Clear, responsible communication like this helps set the right expectations and supports long-term adherence.

Product relevance: BioGaia® Prodentis®

BioGaia® Prodentis® contains Limosilactobacillus reuteri DSM 17938 + ATCC PTA 5289.

Prodentis is designed to be easy to integrate into daily oral care routines, especially when consistency and patient adherence are important. For clinics, it can be introduced alongside patient education on oral hygiene, maintenance care, and the importance of microbial balance.

A meaningful evening with Valeria Doctors

BioGaia Philippines extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Patricia Suiza and the entire Valeria Doctors team for their warm participation and continued interest in BioGaia.

The evening was more than a dinner seminar. It was an opportunity to share science, listen to clinical perspectives, and strengthen our relationship with healthcare professionals committed to improving patient care.

Through BioGaia Academy, we will continue to provide science-based education on probiotics, oral health, and practical clinical use. Our goal is to support dentists, clinic teams, and healthcare partners in bringing reliable probiotic knowledge closer to Filipino patients.

Conclusion

The most important takeaway from the evening was simple: oral probiotics become more meaningful when science is translated into practice.

For dental clinics, the future of oral care will not be defined by one tool alone. It will be shaped by better education, better routines, and better conversations with patients.

What is the most common question your patients ask about probiotics or oral health routines?
